Right Sized Robust Solutions

Automation to fit your business needs, from conceptualization to launch and beyond

Hiring in-house automation personnel is not always the right solution but relying exclusively on vendor support can leave you in a lurch. Zevon Automation provides experienced automation consulting services for projects ranging from small stand alone programs to medium sized integrated solutions.

We offer consulting services for every phase of automation development, from instrument selection, workflow design, solution implementation through to operator training and ongoing support. We will even help you find and train a permanent automation engineer if and when the time comes.

Communication is key to success

Understanding the process is critical to developing the correct automation solution. We believe that the best way to understand what the process needs to do is through an iterative back and forth of questions, suggestions, and feedback. We believe that the only stupid question is the one we didn't ask that would have made the difference between an adequate solution and an exceeds-expectations solution. And we check our egos at the door, we are not invested in being right; we are invested in being collaborative and creating automation that meets your needs.

Flexibility and robustness done right

Our philosophy is that automation solutions need to be robust. That means that there should be wide success paths with the narrowest possible failure paths. While there will always be a need for good user training and not every failure can be avoided, our job is to make failing as difficult as possible. "User error" is an extremely poor excuse for a failure, because a well designed solution will include safeguards, minimizing opportunities for the user to make an error.

We also believe in robust flexibility. Often automation is designed for a very specific set of parameters and workflow making it difficult to do future process optimizations. We aim to allow (password protected) access to as many parameters and workflow dynamics as possible. This flexibility allows for robust optimization while the ability to limit the access provides confidence in process integrity. This approach also provides a framework for runtime error recovery

We will never pretend to know what we don't know.

If we say we know something, we do. We won't promise you the impossible, and will keep you appraised of process associated risks.

And, if we don't have the skills to do what you need, we will tell you that and if possible point you to someone who can do what you need.
